Crunniuc mac Agnomain
Also spelled: Crunnchu mac Agnomain, Crunnchu
A rich widower in Ulster who boasts that his wife can outrun the king's horses.
Overview
Crunniuc lives in a lonely place in the mountains with his sons, his own wife dead, until a woman walks into the house, puts everything in order and sleeps with him. She tells him not to grow boastful at the fair, and at the end of the day, when the king's horses have won, he says his wife is faster. He is taken before the king and she is sent for, and the text does not say what becomes of him; the text dates the pangs of Ulster from his time.
My wife is faster.
