Fraech mac Fidaig
Also spelled: Fráech, Fraoch
The warrior Medb sends to challenge Cúchulainn in the river, who is drowned and carried into the síd by women in green.
Overview
Medb sends Fraech with nine others to deal with Cúchulainn, and he strips and wades in to grapple him, each to keep one arm round the other. Cúchulainn pulls him up once and offers to spare him, but Fraech won't have that said, and the second time he is pushed down for good. Ath Froich is the ford's name, and a troop of women in green tunics carry his body into the síd. Kinsella's note says his mother Béfinn was a woman of the síde, sister of the Boyne river-goddess Boann.
I’ll attack him there in the water; he isn’t good in water.
