Láréne mac Nois
Lugaid's boastful brother, tempted with Finnabair, the only man to meet Cúchulainn on the Táin and live.
Overview
Láréne mac Nois, brother to Lugaid king of Munster, is a vainglorious man whom Ailill and Medb tempt with wine and Finnabair at his right hand, promising her for the head of the Warped One. Lugaid asks Cúchulainn to spare him, while saying he does not mind a heavy punishment. Cúchulainn takes his weapons, grinds and rattles him until the ford is foul with his dung, and flings him into Lugaid's arms. Láréne never again emptied his bowels properly, and he is the only man who met Cúchulainn on the Táin and got away alive.
‘I’ll bring it,’ Láréne said.
