Noisiu
Also spelled: Naoise, Naisi, Noísiu, Noísiu mac Uislenn, Naoise, son of Usnach
One of the three sons of Uisliu, who is dragged into running away with Derdriu and is speared in the back on the green at Emain.
Overview
Noisiu is chanting alone on the rampart near Emain, where the singing of the sons of Uisliu makes every cow give two thirds more milk, when Derdriu tells him she would pick a young bull like him over the king. He refuses on account of Cathbad's prophecy until she catches his ears, and he leaves that night with his brothers and a hundred and fifty warriors. They live in Alba until the men of Ulster send for them with Fergus as a pledge, and on the green at Emain Eogan mac Durthacht breaks his back with a great spear, after which Fergus's son pulls him down and throws himself across him and he is finished off through the son's body.
