Eogan mac Durthacht
Also spelled: Eoghan mac Durthacht, Eógan mac Durthacht
King of Fernmag, who makes his peace with Conchobor by killing Noisiu, and is said by Fergus never to cross a border without three thousand chariots.
Overview
Eogan comes to Emain to make peace with Conchobor, with whom he has long been at enmity, and is chosen to kill the sons of Uisliu, which he starts by breaking Noisiu's back with a great spear. Derdriu names him with Conchobor as the man she hates most, and is sent to him for a year. Fergus tells Ailill and Medb that Eogan once challenged Ulster to battle, beat them while Cúchulainn slept, and left Conchobor and Cúscraid Menn Macha for dead, and describes him at Slemain Midi as the beginner of battle who falls on his enemies like a doom.
