Nadcranntail

Also spelled: Nad Crantail, Natchrantal

The warrior Medb buys with Finnabair, who is tricked by Cúchulainn twice and killed in four pieces.

Overview

Medb names Nadcranntail as the one man besides Cúroi who might match Cúchulainn, and he agrees to go only for Finnabair. Cúchulainn lets him throw nine holly spears at him while catching birds, then comes back wrapped in a cloak beside a standing stone, puts on a false beard made by Laeg, and drops a spear through his skull. Nadcranntail goes to tell his twenty-four sons, returns, and is cut into four sections.

I can’t behead a beardless boy.
