Ulster Lineages and Ancestors

The fathers and ancestors named in the first two pre-tales, from Nes's father down to the end of the pangs.

Overview

The first two pre-tales give Conchobor's mother's line and the line of the pangs. Nes is Eochaid Sálbuide's daughter, and her son Conchobor is the king the tale starts from. The pangs of Ulster come from Macha's birth at the fair, and the names run back from Crunniuc's father Agnoman to Curir Ulad and then forward to Furc, son of Dallán, in whose time the pangs end. Gerg appears only as the man Conchobor killed, and his vat is kept in Conchobor's house.
